As the air turns cooler and leaves turn browner, this is a season for us, too, to consider turning our hearts in a new direction. The Jewish High Holy Day of Yom Kippur earlier this week invited people to imagine turning away from anger and resentment, and turning towards forgiveness. This morning, we will wonder together: Is it possible, in this season of turning, that we too might be able to forgive ourselves – and others – for the grudges and hurts that we have experienced? How might our lives be different if we do?
