In his sermon “Caribbean Radical,” guest minister Rev. Adam Lawrence Dyer tells the story of Caribbean immigrants who came to Harlem during the Harlem Renaissance and shaped both Unitarian Universalism and the fight for justice.

Dyer illuminates the stories of Rev. Ethelred Brown and his grandfather, Jacob A. Dyer—two Jamaican leaders whose work for dignity, equality, and independence still matters today. Their story is about faith, community, and the courage to be seen as fully human in the face of racism.
